1972 Fender Competition Mustang Lake Placid Blue USA
Here we have a beautiful example of an original 1972 Fender competition Mustang in what was once lake placid blue but has now aged in places to a beautiful jade colour. Check heel of this guitar is stamped 16/4/1972 meaning that this guitar is almost 50 years old! This is perhaps the mustangs most iconic look as made famous by Kurt Cobain in the music video for "smells like teen spirit".
This guitar oozes vintage mojo and angst filled rebellion from its every scuff and sticker mark. this guitar has a vey comfortable "D" shape neck profile that is slim and fils the palm at the nut and tapers beautifully towards the dusty end of the fretboard meaning that the neck fills your hand in the right way the whole way across the fretboard, something that you only really get with a vintage guitar.
This guitar has all original electronics which have plenty of jangle but also the warmth and punch that you would expect from a vintage guitar. Weighing in at just 7.16 pound and with its lovely body contours this guitar is incredibly comfortable to play and leaves all the back strain to your stage diving antics in your local dive bar. Although it has racing stripes there is no competition around for a cooler mustang, grab your piece of grunge history now!
We have given this a full pro setup and it sounds wonderful. The neck is dead straight and truss rod is working fine. The electrics have been carefully checked and lubricated. This is ready to go!
